Rajasthan: Dalit journalist fatally attacked when he wrote news of rape, case registered
Journalist Hiraram Meghwal was attacked by four unknown accused with the intention of killing him. Considering the seriously injured Hiraram to be dead, the accused fled from the spot.

Jaipur. In Uchpadra village of Bhaniyana police station area of Jaisalmer district, a Dalit journalist found it expensive to write news about the underprivileged. The journalist had written the news of a rape, due to which angry people attacked him fatally. The accused beat him so brutally that both his legs and one arm were fractured.
In fact, on the evening of May 12, journalist Hiraram Meghwal was attacked by four unknown accused with the intention of killing him. Considering the seriously injured Hiraram to be dead, the accused fled from the spot. He suffered serious injuries in various parts of his body. There have been fractures in hands, legs and head. After giving first aid at Bhaniyana Hospital, he has been referred to Jodhpur, where he is admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of MDM Hospital.
Hiraram from The Mooknayak told that after the coverage of the incident related to rape of a minor, the police had arrested a person named Hari Singh, since then he was receiving continuous threats. Last Sunday some people carried out a deadly attack.

Journalist organizations demanded action
Local journalist organizations on Monday submitted a memorandum in the name of the Chief Minister and Director General of Police to the Collector and SP, demanding arrest of all the attackers of the deadly attack and taking strict action against them.
Phalodi members reached the Collector’s office under the banner of Journalist Association of Phalodi. Here he has condemned the attack on the journalist and demanded strict action. The members of the association said, “Police action should be taken against the accused and they should be arrested so that the journalists in this area can do their work freely and without fear.
