Madhya Pradesh: Dalit groom dragged out of carriage and beaten up in Gwalior, water thrown on baraatis
Police registered a case and started investigation in the matter, the other party also lodged a complaint.

Gwalior. In MP’s Gwalior district, casteist people pulled the Dalit groom down from the carriage and beat him. They also vandalized the carriage. It is alleged that they broke the umbrella of the carriage and threw it in the drain, and broke the lights. They hurled caste-related abuses at the groom and the wedding party. Water was thrown on the wedding party from the rooftops of houses. They entered the wedding procession and fired in the air from guns and pistols. The accused were angry that a Dalit’s wedding procession was passing in front of their house. In this matter, the police have registered a case and are taking action.
Actually, the whole matter is of Karhiya village of Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. The matter is being told of the night of 20th May. The wedding procession came to Karhiya from Rithodan. On Wednesday (22nd May), the groom’s brother has filed a case against the accused in Karhiya police station under assault and Atrocity Act. According to the FIR lodged in the police station- ‘The wedding procession was going out. During this, the accused dragged the groom riding on a carriage and took him down. They beat up the baraatis who came to save the groom Naresh Jatav. They also beat up the DJ. They also pelted stones at the DJ. They broke the disco lights and also tried to uproot the sound system.
Rinku Jatav, the cousin of the groom, said that the accused were protesting against the carriage passing in front of his house. The groom’s gold chain was also looted. It is alleged that Sanjay, Dalbir, Sandeep and Anil Rawat, among the attackers, fired in the air from guns and pistols to spread terror in the wedding procession. It is being told that the police reached the spot after receiving information. After pacifying both the parties, the wedding procession was moved forward. A complaint has also been made by the other party. They allege that the wedding guests were throwing notes while dancing. Notes fell on the women. When stopped, the wedding guests started quarreling. The police is investigating the allegation of the other party.
ASP Niranjan Sharma told The Muknayak, “The wedding procession has been attacked and there has been a complaint of assault on the groom. A case has been registered. The other party has also accused the other party of misbehaving with women. The police is investigating the entire matter.”
Rajput community took out a procession of Dalit girl by making her sit on a mare
In Ajmer, Rajasthan, a Dalit girl was brought on a horse and her procession was taken out. In the wedding of Kailash Meghwal’s 19 year old daughter Sakshi of Lohagal village, people of Rajput community brought her on a horse and took out a procession. Drums were played along with it. In this procession, the reins of the mare were held by Aam Janmat Party’s state president Ghanshyam Singh Banwada and state vice president Shyam Singh.
According to the information, this program was organized on Tuesday night before the wedding of Kailash Meghwal’s 19-year-old daughter Sakshi. During this, 14-year-old boy Shubham Singh Banwara put a turban on the bride Sakshi. Then the Banwara Rajput family invited the bride Sakshi and her family for a royal meal of Bindauli according to Rajasthani tradition. This program was organized at the Garden Restaurant in Lohgal, in which hundreds of people participated and blessed Sakshi. The photos of this unique initiative and program are becoming quite viral on social media.
State President Ghanshyam Singh Banwara said that many kinds of negativity are spread in the society regarding the Dalit community. In some places, Dalit grooms are not allowed to sit on a mare, which is cowardice. Along with this, he said that the Rajput community has always supported the Dalit community. Through such programs, the feeling of high and low in the society can be eliminated. State President Ghanshyam Singh Banwara said that Sakshi’s father Kailash Meghwal is his old friend, who wanted to marry his daughter like a son. Due to this, the daughter was made to wear a turban and the Bindauli was taken out on a mare.
