UP: Dalit disabled woman raped in Varanasi, police arrested the accused
The victim’s mother said that when her daughter tried to free herself and scream, the accused stuffed a cloth in her mouth.

Uttar Pradesh. A case of rape of a Dalit married disabled woman has come to light in the Phulpur police station area of Varanasi. The woman was raped in her maternal home. Currently, on the complaint of the woman’s mother, the police have registered a case and arrested the accused Suraj Patel and sent him to jail under the relevant sections.
According to media reports , police station in-charge Praveen Kumar Singh said that, according to the complaint of the victim’s mother, her 21-year-old disabled daughter is married. These days she is undergoing treatment and is staying at her parents’ house. On the night of October 5, she went out after eating dinner at 10:30 pm. At the same time, Suraj Patel was passing by. He dragged my daughter into the field.
The victim’s mother further said that when my daughter tried to escape and scream, he stuffed a cloth in her mouth. After that he raped her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone. He ran away from there. After some time when the daughter did not return, she went out. During this time, she saw her daughter coming out soaked in water. She told her ordeal.
The police station in-charge said that, based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, a case was registered under section 64 (2) (k) of the BNS and section 3 (2) (v) of the SC-ST Act and a search was started for the said person. He was arrested on Sunday afternoon and sent to jail late in the evening.
