UP: Dalit ‘policeman’ groom not allowed to ride the horse, accused of assault and using casteist slurs
Giving information about the incident, the groom’s father said that my son’s wedding was on December 11. When the Ghorchadhi was taking place at 5 pm, my son was thrown off the mare in another locality.

Uttar Pradesh: In Jahangirabad police station area of Bulandshahr district, some miscreants stopped a Dalit policeman during the Ghorchadhi (wedding procession) and started pelting stones at him. It is alleged that the Dalit groom was even thrown down from the mare. This incident has come to light in the state where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had given the election slogan of “Batenge to Katenge”.
The incident is said to be of 11 December. Robin Singh, son of Nandram Singh, a resident of Titota village, who belongs to the Dalit community, was married to Swati, a resident of Lakhavati. Robin is posted in Ghaziabad PAC. Robin’s Ghorchadhi was being held with great pomp and DJ was playing. Everyone was dancing. After travelling some distance, suddenly some miscreants from the village started pelting stones, due to which the DJ and the vehicle got damaged and the DJ operator also got injured.
Nandram Singh, father of the groom Robin, while giving information about the incident said that my son’s wedding was on 11 December. When the Ghorchadhi was happening at 5 pm, when the Ghorchadhi reached another locality of Thakur community, some people threw my son down from the mare. They pelted stones at the DJ which damaged it, they stopped the Ghorchadhi from happening. With great difficulty, we left from there with folded hands.
Nandram said that women were also with them and they were misbehaved with. I called 112 at the same time and the police arrived at the same time. On the advice of the police, I took the baraat with me at around 11:30 pm. The next day I gave a complaint to the police, 5 people have been arrested in this case and 1 is still pending.
Giving information about this incident, Rural SP Rohit Mishra said that this incident took place in Jahangirabad police station area. A wedding procession was going in which DJ was playing. Some boys were standing on the way and there was an argument over playing DJ at high volume. It has come to light that someone threw a brick stone, which hit the DJ and it broke. During this, there was a fight and abuse between them. In which an application has been given by one party, AIR has been registered under relevant sections and investigation is being done, 5 people have been arrested.
