MP: Dalit professor under pressure to join RSS, High Court orders action
Dr. Chaudhary complained to the police and SP office, but due to political pressure no action was taken against the accused. After this he approached the High Court.

Bhopal. The case of murderous attack and illegal dismissal of Dr. Ramjas Chaudhary, a Dalit professor of guest faculty in a college in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, has reached the High Court, Jabalpur. Considering the seriousness of the case, the division bench of Justice Vivek Agarwal ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sidhi to take criminal action against all the accused within seven days.
Know what is the matter?
Dr. Ramjas Chaudhary, who was a guest faculty in the commerce department at a college in Sidhi district, filed a petition (No. 488/2025) in the High Court alleging that the college principal Geeta Bharti and her husband S.R. Bharti, along with 20 other people, pressured him to join the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and financially support their programs. When he opposed this, he was abused and locked in the bathroom.
Dr. Chaudhary complained to the police and SP office, but due to political pressure no action was taken against the accused. After this he approached the High Court.
Dismissal allegations
Dr. Chaudhary said that when he did not listen to the accused, he was physically tortured in the college. After this incident, the college principal pressured him to withdraw the complaint. On not withdrawing the complaint, he was illegally dismissed from the job on 10 December 2024.
However, the Commissioner of Higher Education Department declared the dismissal illegal and reinstated Dr. Choudhary on 17 January 2025.
During the hearing on the petition, senior advocates Rameshwar Singh Thakur and Vinayak Prasad Shah represented Dr. Chaudhary. They told the court that despite the complaint, the police have not taken any action against the accused so far. Considering the seriousness of the case, the High Court directed that the Sidhi Superintendent of Police should ensure action against all the accused within seven days.
Dr. Chaudhary has named a total of 20 people as accused in his petition. These include college principal Geeta Bharti, her husband S.R. Bharti, assistant teachers Rajkishore Tiwari, Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Vipendra Dwivedi, Dr. Suresh Tiwari, and other RSS workers.
Talking to The Mooknayak , senior advocate Rameshwar Singh said, in the case of attack and illegal dismissal of Dalit professor Dr. Ramjas Chaudhary for not being a member of RSS, the High Court has directed the Sidhi SP to take action against the accused within seven days. Dr. Chaudhary had accused college principal Geeta Bharti and 19 others of pressurizing and harassing him. The Higher Education Department reinstated him by declaring his dismissal illegal, but when the police did not take any action, he approached the High Court.
Speaking to The Mulnayak, Dr. Chaudhary said, “I was pressured to join the RSS and provide financial support to their programmes. When I refused, I was attacked. I moved the court against the injustice done to me. I hope to get justice.”
