Man sent to jail over attempted rape in Netrakona

A Netrakona court today sent a man to jail after being arrested in a case filed over the attempted rape of a 9-year-old boy in Atpara upazila.
The Netrokona Senior Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after police presented him before the court this afternoon, said Netrokona Court Inspector Md Mofiz Uddin.
The accused is Masum Mia, 27, an auto-rickshaw driver, of the Palpara village.
According to the case statement, when the victim was returning home from Dugiya Bazar on an auto-rickshaw around 7:30pm yesterday, the accused took him to a secluded forest adjacent to Brujer Bazar and tried to rape him.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot, rescued the boy, and detained the driver. They later handed him over to police, as per case details.
The victim’s father filed a written complaint with the Atpara Police Station last night.
Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman said Masum was shown arrested in the case and was produced before a court today, which sent him to jail.
