Caste-related abuse and indecency with a Dalit employee at BHU Trauma Center, case registered against two professors under SC/ST Act

Case filed on the petition of Kamlesh Kumar Gond by court order, Lanka police started investigation.

Varanasi. A case of casteist abuse and indecency with a Dalit employee working in the Trauma Center of Sir Sundar Lal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University ( BHU ) has come to light. On the complaint of the employee, on the orders of the court, an FIR has been registered in Lanka police station against Prof. Shashi Prakash Mishra of the General Surgery Department and Dr. Vishambar Singh of the ENT Department under SC/ST Act and other sections.
Complainant Kamlesh Kumar Gond works as a waiter in the patient kitchen of the Trauma Centre. He alleged that on May 24, when Prof. Mishra was passing by the kitchen, he used casteist words and asked him to bring tea and snacks. When he protested, the professor abused him and misbehaved with him.
Kamlesh further said that on May 26, once again Prof. Mishra came towards the kitchen and kicked the chair kept there and again used abusive caste-related language . It is alleged that during this time he also used abusive language against a female colleague present there.
Kamlesh had first complained about this matter in Lanka police station, but when no action was taken, he approached the court. After the court’s order, Lanka police have registered a case and started investigation.
Quoting Amar Ujala , Lanka police station in-charge Shivakant Mishra said in this regard that a case has been registered on the instructions of the court and the investigation of the case is going on.
