SARIM Attends CSSP Event: Celebrating Minority Communities’ Progress and Empowerment
Overview
SARIM was invited to an event organized by The Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) held on 11th December 2025 in Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi. The Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) is a Non-Government organization registered with the Societies act of 1860, that aims for socio-economic transformation of citizens and institutions through organizing, educating, engaging, and empowering communities and public institutions for a prosperous and healthy society. Since its inception in 2005, CSSP has focused on youth empowerment, peacebuilding and social cohesion, education, gender, livelihood, democratic governance and climate change & localized humanitarian actions as its key focus areas.

Details of the Event
The program was designed to highlight the achievements and ongoing development of minority communities in the Mirpurkhas district in Sindh by providing a platform for rural participants to showcase their progress and skills to an urban audience. The event featured a diverse set of segments, including a theatre performance, a panel discussion, a video documentary, guest addresses, open dialogue sessions and recommendations. Professionals representing Hindu, Christian, Sikh, and differently abled communities also participated. Collectively, these segments aimed to highlight the challenges faced by these groups in their respective areas and to demonstrate CSSP’s contributions toward their economic empowerment through targeted training and facilitation services.














Insights from the Event
The CEO of CSSP Mr. Noor Bajri highlighted the issues of interior Sindh faced by illiteracy, poverty, cases of early marriages, gender based violence and suicides. In response to these issues he further mentioned contributions by CSSP through government collaboration in Mirpurkhas division, which included the launch of women development program, social welfare department, and pro women desk in police department. They also set up a minority facilitation desk, inaugurated a Rozgaar center for young girls, providing them with the necessary equipment, supplies and trainers. Their training initiatives extended to carpentry and masonry for men, as well as solar technology, research, and flood-preparedness training to address potential climate-related risks.

The event featured Professionals from UN Commission and members from Human Rights Department Rubeena Birohe and Marvi Awan. The session also featured activists from diverse minortiy groups and members who spoke on the challenges of their communities and progress made by them through trainings and workshops.
Radha Bheel Former SARIM contributor Radha Bheel, a prominent minority rights advocate particularly for Dalit and women’s rights and an expert on rural issues in Sindh, was among the distinguished guests.
Leena Khalid The event also included participation from, an activist from the Christian community, who spoke about the challenges faced by them in interior Sindh.
Nadia Naqvi and Zia Haider Naqvi Both faith leaders from the Ahl-e-Tashi community, who contributed to the discussion.
