Under the leadership of Bhim Army State Vice President Krishna Mehra, people of Meghwal, Bairwa, Dhobi and Mehar communities of Mundla village demonstrated at Khanpur subdivision headquarters. People of Dalit community have submitted a memorandum to Sub Divisional Officer Khanpur. It is alleged that the local police and administration are not able to provide justice to the Dalit community due to political pressure. Despite FIR being registered under serious sections under the Scheduled Caste and Tribe Act, the named accused have not been arrested even after a month of the incident.
The protesting people said that due to no action being taken even after a month of the incident, the morale of the high profile accused is high. Every day people of Dalit community are being threatened one by one. Here Dalit organizations have also accused Mukesh Bairwa, Mustagis of Mundla case, of threatening him before the demonstration. The villagers have also presented evidence to the Sub-Divisional Officer regarding the threat, but no action has been taken yet. There is anger in the Dalit community due to this.
What was the matter?
On January 22, there was an atmosphere of enthusiasm across the country regarding the construction of Ram temple and Pran Pratishtha program in Ayodhya. People in cities, towns and villages were also preparing to celebrate the festival. In Mundla village under Khanpur police station of Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, preparations were going on to take out Kalash Yatra and prepare food prasad on the occasion of Ram Mandir Utsav.
Bhim Army State Vice President Krishna Mehra said that people of Meghwal, Bairava, Dhobi and Mehar communities also live in Mundla village under Khanpur police station of Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. Who come from Scheduled Caste category. Last month in January, to celebrate the construction of Ram temple being built in Ayodhya, prominent people of the village were collecting donations to organize Kalash Yatra and distribution of Prasad in Mundla village. On January 8, Jagdish son of Mangi Lal Nagar and Om Nagar of Mundla village came along with ten to fifteen other people. Went to the Dalit community colony in the village and asked for donations for the Ram temple festival. On this, people of Dalit community donated money for the Ram temple festival as per their capacity.
Mukesh Bairwa of Mundla village told that, the next day on January 9, at around 9 pm, Jagdish Nagar, Om Nagar and others came to the Dalit colony. People of SC community were called outside their homes and started returning the donations taken in the name of Ram Mandir Utsav. When asked the reason for returning the amount, they (people who came to return the donation amount) said that Ramswaroop, Chhotulal alias Chandra Prakash, Jagdish and Mahavir Dhakad of our society have asked the people of Dalit community not to take the donation amount. According to Mukesh Bairwa, the people who came to return the donations said that the above four people had said that the Dalits’ money will not be used for offering food to God. Whatever prasad is made will also become impure. So please return their money. That’s why we have come to return it.
After first taking donations in the name of Ram Temple and later harassing the Dalits by returning the donations by telling them their caste, the people of the AAC community of the village filed a complaint in Khanpur police station demanding registration of FIR against the named accused. , but the police did not even register an FIR.
When the local police did not listen, the SC community people of the village along with Bhim Army protested at Jhalawar district headquarters and demanded registration of FIR in the Mundla case. After this, Khanpur police station had registered an FIR against Ram Swaroop, Chhotulal alias Chandraprakash, Jagdish and Mahavir Dhakad under Section 504 and Scheduled Caste and Tribe Act on January 17 at 4 pm. It is alleged that a month has passed since the incident, but till now the police has not taken any action. This boosts the morale of the accused. Dalits are being threatened and harassed in the village.
Earlier on January 11, Mukesh son of Motilal Bairava of the village was threatened by the accused Chhotulal alias Chandraprakash and Khemraj Dhakad to leave the settlement using caste based words. Mukesh alleges that “I was threatened to stay away from the settlement and buy essential food items from another village. Complained to the police in this regard also, but no action was taken. Now once again I was threatened on the phone. Threatened to kill. We have its audio. We have played the audio to the police officers, but the police still have not taken any action.”
‘Officials are under political pressure’
Bhim Army State Vice President Krishna Mehra said that, we informed the Collector SP. After this the police registered an FIR a week after the incident. Till now the police has not taken any action against the named accused. This is a case of atrocity, as per the rules, action should have been taken by now, but the police and administration people are under political pressure. Therefore, they are avoiding taking action against the bigots.
He said, “The people of the administration know the truth, but are helpless under the pressure of power. Donation was taken from our people in the name of Ram, and the donation amount was returned after terming it as inferior because of caste. If this is not atrocity then what is it. Will fight till my last breath for justice for Dalits.”
Police is taking action on the basis of evidence and witnesses
Following allegations of the police working under political pressure, The Mooknayak spoke to Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar, who is investigating the FIR lodged in the Mundla case. RPS officer Vijay Kumar said, “The police is taking action in this case as per rules. I myself have gone to the village twice with the SDM to get the statements of the victim’s side, but the people of the victim’s side do not come forward. The people quoted in the complaint have now retracted their statements. The police are taking action on the basis of evidence and witnesses. The allegations of working under political pressure are baseless.”
