Maharashtra: Marathi actress made controversial remarks on SC-ST law, case registered
On the complaint of Premnath Jagatkar, police registered a case against the Marathi actress and started investigation.

Maharashtra. A case of a Marathi actress giving a controversial statement targeting Scheduled Caste people has come to light. The actress has said that “SC-ST Act has been made a money-grabbing business, it should be abolished.” Along with this, he demanded on public platform to investigate the cases registered under SC-ST. After this controversy, Premnath Jagatkar has filed a case against Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale in Parli town of Beed district.
According to the information received, actress Ketaki Chitale had participated in the ‘Brahmin Ekya Parishad’ conference organized in Parli on 25 February. During this, he said that filing false cases under SC/ST Act has become a racket. Information should be obtained under the Right to Information Act as to how many cases have been registered under the Atrocities Act and how many of them are false. His speech was later heard online by a local resident Premnath Jagatkar and he went to Parli city police station and lodged a complaint. After this, FIR was registered in this matter.
During the programme, he claimed that filing false cases under the SC/ST Act has become a racket and demanded an investigation into all such cases filed in the last 5 years. The Marathi actress had commented, “It has become a business to earn money by filing cases under sections of SC/ST Act. It is a complete racket. Many false cases are filed.”
During this time, he also criticized the Maratha reservation movement led by Manoj Jarange Patil and allegedly called it a ‘fool’s fair’. On Friday (March 1, 2024), a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Ketaki Chitale under sections 295A (outraging religious feelings) and 502(2) (enmity between classes) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Let us tell you that earlier Ketaki was accused of allegedly making objectionable remarks against NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. After this, in 2022, he had to stay behind bars for more than a month. Then, he was arrested for a Facebook post on May 15 that year. He had reportedly shared a poem written on Pawar, in which he was described as a person who hates Brahmins. At that time, cases were registered against him in several police stations in Mumbai and its suburbs.
