In a suspected case of honour killing, a 21-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Nagal Konda village in Telanagana’s Adilabad district on Friday.
The woman was purportedly in a relationship with a man from another religion. Two months ago, the couple eloped and was living in Maharashtra. The woman was brought back to Telangana by the police after her parents lodged a missing complaint.
On Friday, she was found dead at her home with multiple injuries on her neck. The woman’s father told the police she died by suicide.
However, the police suspect the woman was murdered.
“We are suspecting that her father might have killed her for eloping with a boy from another religion. At that time, the family brought her back after counselling and her father was upset,” said Superintendent of Police in Adilabad, Uday Kumar Reddy.
The body has been shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway.
