Rajasthan: Deadly attack on Dalit family in Bundi, 6 accused arrested

Seven members of the family affected by the attack have been admitted to Bundi district hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries.

Jaipur. The police have arrested half a dozen accused of murderous attack on the victim’s family for protesting against teasing of a woman in a village in Raithala police station area of Bundi district of Rajasthan. The arrested accused are Devi Lal (61) son of Gopal Gurjar, Bhimraj (55) son of Gopal Gurjar, Khushiram (25) son of Bhimraj Gurjar, Devprakash (28) son of Bhimraj Gurjar, Chandraprakash (26) son of Jugraj Gurjar, Jugraj (50) son of Gopal Gurjar. .
It is alleged that on Sunday, January 7, in a village in Raithala police station area of Bundi district, the accused first entered into the shed of a Dalit. Where after finding the Dalit woman alone, he started molesting her. During this time, when the husband of the victim woman reached home and asked the accused the reason for forcefully entering the house, the accused got into a scuffle with him. At the same time, the accused called his family members and attacked the victim’s family with a sharp weapon. Seven members of the family affected by the attack have been admitted to Bundi district hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries.
Raithala police station, which reached the district hospital during the treatment of the injured, on the basis of the written statement of the husband of the victim woman, filed a case against the said arrested accused under various sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act, including molestation, murderous attack, entering the house illegally. After registering an FIR, the investigation was handed over to the investigating officer Keshavrai Patan’s police officer Shankarlal.
Social organizations had lodged a protest against the incident of fatal attack on the victim’s family when they protested against the incident of molestation of a woman from a Dalit family and demanded the administration to arrest the accused. There was also talk of agitation on various roads in Bundi district if the accused were not arrested.
Seeing the seriousness of the case, Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Ramkuwar Kaswa, had given instructions to the investigating officer and Keshavrai Patan circle officer Shankarlal and police station officer Raithala Babulal Meena to arrest the accused without delay. On the instructions of the SP, the police showed promptness and arrested half a dozen accused.

According to the police, the husband of the victim woman, who is undergoing treatment at Bundi District Hospital, told in the statement that he had gone to the village market on Sunday, January 7. The wife was alone at home. When he reached home from the market, the accused Jugraj Gurjar entered the house and was molesting the applicant’s wife. The applicant told the police that after reaching the spot, he saved his wife from the accused and took her out of the house and locked the accused Jugraj inside the house.
During this time, the applicant informed his family members about the incident and called them to the spot. On this the applicant’s father, uncle, aunt and other relatives also came to the spot. After some time, the accused also called the accused from his family to the spot. The accused, who came with sticks, rods, axes and mortars in their hands, attacked the victim’s family members fiercely. This resulted in serious injuries to seven people.
In the attack, the applicant suffered serious injuries on his ears, head, legs and body at various places. Apart from this, the applicant’s victim’s wife, father, uncle, aunt and others also suffered serious injuries. Police also reached the spot on information about the incident. With the help of 108 ambulance, the police first took all the injured to the nearest hospital Khatkar. Where after first aid everyone was referred to Bundi District Hospital.
Superintendent of Police Jaidev issued a press note saying that six accused in the attack have been arrested. Investigating the matter. Whatever truth comes out in the research, action will be taken as per rules.
