Kanpur: When Dalit woman did not touch her feet when passing in front of the house, she was dragged by her hair and beaten, the house was set on fire
The accused also set the house on fire due to which two goats were burnt alive. In this case, based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case under sections of IPC and SC ST Act.

Uttar Pradesh. A Dalit family in Sen Paschim Para of Kanpur district of UP found it difficult not to touch the feet of so-called upper caste people when they passed by their house. When he did not do so, the said people entered the Dalit man’s house and beat up the woman and children. A video of a woman being dragged by her hair and beaten is now going viral on social media.
Along with this, the accused also set the house on fire. Due to this, two goats were burnt alive. In this case, based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case under sections of IPC and SC ST Act.
The whole matter pertains to Sen Purab Para of Sen West Para police station of Kanpur city. This incident happened on 11th February. Referring to the incident, Babu Paswan told The Mooknayak – “Village residents Dayalu Singh son of Chutkan, Ram son of Dayalu Singh, Raghav son of Dayalu Singh wanted that whenever we passed outside their house, our family members would touch their feet. Touched. But we have never done that nor will we do that. There was a dispute only on this matter. When we protested against it, he entered our house and beat me up. He grabbed my mother Lakshmi Devi’s hair and beat me up. Home Also beat up the children and daughters-in-law.”
Babu Paswan says- On February 11, at 8 pm, my mother Lakshmi Devi and daughters-in-law were at home. We all had gone to work. During this time, apart from Dayalu Singh, Ram, Raghav, three unknown people entered the house in the dark. They tried to molest and rape the women in my family. When the women of my family protested against this, they insulted me with caste based words. They beat my mother by holding her hair. When the daughters-in-law of the house saved them, they beat them with kicks and punches. Hearing my mother’s screams, my brother Ramesh came to save her and beat her with kicks and punches.
Babu further tells that they set fire to a part of my house. Since that part of the house was made of straw, it started burning rapidly. The family members saved themselves from the fire, but two goats were burnt. In this case, on the complaint of family members, the police have registered a case under IPC sections 147,452,354(b), 323,308,504,436,428 and SC/ST Act. The police have not arrested any accused yet.
