UP: The marriage procession reached Dalit daughter’s house under police protection, threat was received to behead the groom.

Badaun. In Badaun, UP, an order was issued to behead a Dalit groom for riding a mare. When the Dalit family complained to the Chief Minister, forces from several police stations reached the village. In the presence of the police, the groom was married with great pomp and show by making him sit on a mare. After this, there was no limit to the happiness among the Dalit family members. Another Dalit daughter is to be married in the village on March 6.
In fact, the casteist people of the village itself had threatened to attack if the wedding procession arrived. The matter had gone viral on social media. The police called both the parties to the police station and explained. Along with this, assurance was given to provide security during the procession.
This whole matter is of Chandesi village of Sahaswan area of Badaun. It was told that this village is Yadav dominated. The wedding procession of Khushboo, daughter of Mahesh Valmiki, a resident of the same village, was to come on Sunday. Regarding this, some powerful people issued an order to the Dalit family that if the groom passed through the village riding a mare, his head would be cut off. The bullies said that the Dalit groom in the village has never passed on a mare.

In the past too, there have been attacks in the village for playing DJ and taking out carts in the weddings of Dalit families. Therefore, on 13 February 2024, the people of the marriage family held a meeting and discussed with the people of all the society of the village. On this, the casteist people of the village did not give permission to take out the bandwagon and the carriage. It was alleged that the victims’ families were threatened that if they did so, dead bodies would be laid out in the marriage ceremony. The groom will be beheaded.
The Mooknayak had talked to both the families in this matter. In both the families, the fathers of Dalit daughters have died. Mahesh’s niece Khushboo, who lives in this village, was married on March 3. Khushboo’s uncle had taken the entire responsibility of the marriage. Mahesh told The Mooknayak, “My niece’s wedding took place on March 3, 2024. Due to this, some casteist people of the village had refused to take out the procession on a cart with a band in the procession. They had threatened to face consequences if they did not agree. We had complained about this. After which police protection was given to my niece’s wedding procession yesterday. In the presence of the police, the entire wedding procession came to the village with musical instruments. We thank the police for this.”
Like Khushboo, Kavita, daughter of Premvati, a widow living in this village, is getting married. Premvati has four sons and three daughters in her family. One daughter of Premvati is married, while the marriage of the other daughter is to take place on March 6. Premvati’s son Veeresh Kumar said, “My sister is getting married on March 6. Influential people living in the village have forbidden us to take out the procession with a band and a carriage. We have been threatened that if the procession is held like this, If they come out, they will spread dead bodies in the village. However, in this case also the police has said that security will be provided.
Police taught a lesson to casteist people
According to information received from sources, in this case a full police force had come to the village two days before the marriage. Senior police officers were also involved in this. The police called the threatening area’s strongmen to a room in the primary school, locked them up and taught them legal lessons. The police had given a clear warning that if anything happens in the wedding procession, a case will be registered and concrete action will be taken. Along with this, it was also said that a fine of Rs 5 lakh would be imposed. The accused were in panic after this incident. The marriage, which took place on March 3, was completed with complete joy.
