UP: Inspector accused of Dalit harassment! Know what the Police Commissioner did then?

Kanpur . Dalit Inspector Atmaram Verma, posted at Feelkhana police station of Police Commissionerate, has released a video alleging Dalit oppression. After the video went viral, the Police Commissioner put the Inspector on the line with immediate effect. Along with this, the investigation has been handed over to ACP Kotwali Archana Singh to investigate the allegations made by the Inspector.
Video went viral when action was not taken
Inspector Atmaram Verma posted at Feelkhana police station made his 2.05 minute video viral on social media. In this video he said that injustice is being done to me. SI Arun Kumar Singh, Santosh Yadav, Constable Sumit Badal posted in the police station are harassing me. Abused with caste based words. This incident happened a month ago. Told Inspector SK Singh and also talked to ACP Archana Singh, but did not get any response.
Instead of taking action, ACP Archana Singh gathered everyone at the police station and scolded them. After this, the constable and Santosh abused my mother. Arun said that if you keep abusing like this, vacate the room. In the video, the inspector said that he is on duty at night and rests for one or two hours. I belong to Kori caste, that is why Inspector Ravindra Pratap Singh is harassing me. He is saying vacate the room otherwise I will send you to jail.
The silent hero talked to the victim inspector. Inspector told – “I am originally from Jhansi. I was recruited as a constable in Lucknow in 1988. After this, I have served in nine districts including Shahjahanpur, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot, Banda Jalaun. In 2018 I was promoted to the post of head constable. After this I became sub-inspector. My present posting is at Feelkhana police station in Kanpur.”
The inspector further said – “Earlier, he was the post in-charge, he had given me his house to live in. In which I reside. I am put on night duty every day. Again, my colleagues posted with me are harassing me daily. They are forcing me to vacate the room.
Dissatisfaction among police personnel after video went viral
After the video of the inspector went viral on social media, dissatisfaction has arisen among the Dalit police personnel posted in Uttar Pradesh Police only in Kanpur. Different reactions were seen on social media. Due to this, on the orders of Kanpur Police Commissioner Akhil Kumar, the Inspector was put on the line. According to the police officers, if the Inspector had any problem then he should have complained to the departmental officers. The rules of the police department have been violated by making the video viral.
Deputy Commissioner of Police East Shravan Kumar Singh told The Mooknayak – “The traders of Feelkhana market had come to the police station complaining that the policemen deployed at the beat post misbehave with the traders. Due to which there was anger towards the traders. With unfair means. -They behave indecently. This entire matter is being investigated.”
