Rape of 22 year old Dalit woman in Ballia, UP, accused arrested

Station in-charge Dharamvir Singh said that on the basis of the complaint, the police have registered sections 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities). An FIR has been registered under the Act. Accused Lagandev Yadav has been arrested on Wednesday.

A 22 year old Dalit woman was raped in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident came to light when the victim’s mother contacted the police on Tuesday, March 26.

According to the information, about this incident, police station in-charge Dharamveer Singh said that the matter came to light when the mother of the rape victim contacted the police on Tuesday night. In her complaint, the victim’s mother alleged that the accused named Lagandev Yadav raped her daughter on March 7. The SHO said he made casteist remarks against her and threatened to kill her.
