Dalit journalist beaten up for publishing reports on boy’s sexual assault
The accused, Hari Singh Charan, already has multiple cases against him including cases under NDPS Act, physical assault etc.

A Dalit journalist was allegedly attacked in Jaisalmer for publishing reports on sexual assault of a minor boy. According to the information, Heera Lal Meghwal, was attacked at the behest of the accused who belongs to an OBC community.
According to Jaisalmer police, a minor boy was sexually assaulted some four months back. Heera Lal, had been continuously writing about the issue because of which the accused was arrested under POCSO Act.
Jaisalmer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhawani Singh while talking to The Indian Express said, “The accused is under arrest and investigation is underway. On the night of May 12, five people attacked Heera Lal and brutally beat him up. We have arrested one accused while four others are absconding. We are continuously raiding their different hiding places and hope to arrest them soon.”
