BNP leader arrested for sexual harassment

An expelled BNP leader was arrested on the charge of sexual harassment in Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Sunday.
A local court sent the arrestee to jail on Sunday afternoon, police confirmed yesterday.
The arrestee, Juel Rana, hailing from the Char Solimabad area in Chowhali upazila, was the organising secretary of the Chowhali upazila unit of BNP before he was expelled from the post on January 14.
Juel allegedly sexually harassed a young boy in his village on January 11, said Jiaur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chowhali Police Station.
The victim’s father filed a case against Juel with the police station. Juel has been in hiding since then, added the OC.
Acting on a tip-off, Rab arrested Juel from Sirajganj town and later handed him over to police, the OC said.
The Sirajganj district unit of BNP expelled Juel from his post for violating the party’s decorum.
