Jharkhand: Three minor tribal girls gang-raped, 18 minors arrested

Ranchi: A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Ulihatu village of Rania police station area of Khunti district of Jharkhand. Late night on February 21, three minor tribal girls were allegedly gang-raped by 18 minor boys. This incident has sparked outrage in the area.
According to the police, the incident took place when five girls were returning home from Ulihatu to Nichitpur after attending a wedding ceremony near the Karo river. On the way, 18 minor boys stopped them and raped three girls in turns. The attackers also threatened the victims not to tell anyone about the incident.
Despite threats, the girls somehow reached home and informed their families about the incident the next day, Saturday. The family members along with the villagers informed the police. Following this, an FIR was registered based on the statements of the three victims.
Khunti Superintendent of Police (SP) Aman Kumar confirmed that all 18 accused minors have been taken into custody and are being questioned. He said, “Three minor tribal girls have been gang-raped. The investigation has been intensified considering the seriousness of the case. All 18 accused have been apprehended and their interrogation is underway.”
The SP also said that both the victims and the accused were returning from the same wedding function, making the case even more shocking. The administration has assured a thorough investigation into the incident, while the community is terrified by this horrific crime.
