Bihar: On Tuesday, Katihar police beat up a tribal youth with a stick and also dragged him on the road. Its video is also going viral rapidly. In the video, the youth is seen lying on the road near the police van. The policeman and his companion are seen beating him with a stick. The policemen are seen dragging him on the ground.
The name of the youth whom the police is beating is Anil Baski. He is a resident of Chhohar Panchayat of Pothiya police station area.
The victim’s elder brother said that ‘he is mentally ill.’
According to Dainik Bhaskar , after investigating the viral video, Katihar SP Vaibhav Sharma took action and suspended ASI Kedar Prasad Yadav and lady constable Preeti Kumari. Two Home Guard jawans Sikandar Mahato and Rajkishore Mahato have been suspended from service for one year.
Katihar SP Vaibhav Sharma has ordered to register an FIR against the driver Bambam Kumar of Pothiya police station and the guilty police personnel. SDPO Kodha Dharmendra Kumar is further investigating the matter.
Anil was standing on the roadside near Sameli Doomar. He greeted the policemen on seeing them. After this, the policemen got angry and started beating him with sticks. During this, Anil fell on the ground and kept pleading to be let go. The police released him on the request of the local people. After the incident, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has demanded action. Former RJD MLA Neeraj Yadav’s wife Baby Devi also visited the victim’s house. She has demanded action against the policemen.
Apart from this, the Tribal Development Council has also taken the matter seriously. They have warned of gherao of the police station and road blockade if no action is taken.
