Dalit farmer in Kasganj is pleading for protection of his family
Agra: In Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj, a 52-year-old Dalit farmer’s 12-year-old daughter was murdered. She was hanged in her own house. It is alleged that some people from another caste did this heinous act. The incident happened two days ago. Now the farmer is pleading for justice and security. The farmer has 4 daughters, all of whom are in their teens. He said that only one accused has been arrested so far. The rest of the accused are still roaming freely in the village.
The farmer said, “On March 1, my 14-year-old daughter went missing. We came to know that some people had forcibly abducted her. My wife and I were working in our small field. We immediately set out to find our daughter. On returning home, we found our 12-year-old daughter hanging from the ceiling. They tried to make it look like a suicide. I was forced to go to the police.”
The police later found the farmer’s 14-year-old daughter. She was brought back. The victim farmer said in his police complaint, “Those people had kidnapped and held hostage both my daughters earlier as well. They were released only after the intervention of some village elders.”
Police on Monday confirmed that the missing girl has been found. The main accused in the case, 24-year-old Bablu Singh Yadav, has been arrested. Raj Kumar Pandey, DSP, Kasganj, said, “Both parties are from the same village. It seems that the 14-year-old girl knew Bablu. Since she is a minor, we have booked him under IPC Section 140 (1) (kidnapping with intent to murder) and other sections.”
“In the case of the murdered teenager, an FIR has been lodged against at least 9 villagers under IPC Sections 103 (2) (murder) and 140 (1) (kidnapping with intent to murder) as well as the SC/ST Act. We are conducting raids at their possible hideouts to nab them. The post-mortem report has stated the cause of death as ‘asphyxia due to hanging’,” the DSP said.
However, Pandey admitted, “So far, Bablu’s role in her death has not been established.” Meanwhile, the farmer’s third daughter, aged 18, said, “They brutally killed one of my younger sisters and kidnapped the other. Now we are all scared…”
