18-year-old rapes woman while holding her child at knifepoint

An 18-year-old has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman while holding her child hostage at knifepoint in Jashore Sadar upazila last night.
The incident took place at around 11:30pm on Sunday in the Birampur Gabtala village of Jashore Sadar, said police.
The arrestee is a resident of the same village.
The victim’s brother said his sister was staying alone at home with her child. Around 11:30pm, their neighbour entered the house and took a knife to the throat of the child, and allegedly raped the victim.
Later, he stabbed the child and her mother and fled.
Locals rescued woman and the child and admitted them to Jashore Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Babul Hossain said a case has been filed in this regard.
