Six arrested over murder of gold trader in Savar

Police have arrested six members of a gang over the murder of gold trader Dilip Das in Savar.
They have recovered 13 bhoris of gold and Tk 76,000 in cash from the arrestees.
The arrestees are Md Ripon Mia (40) Md Arif Pramanik (30), Md Shah Alam (45), Md Arman Sheikh (37), Md Ibrahim Babu (45), and Masud Rana alias Kala Masud (45).
Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anisuzzaman disclosed the developments of the case at a press conference held at Ashulia Police Station around noon today.
According to the SP, the robbers had hacked Dilip Das to death as part of a pre-planned attack and looted the gold in a bag around 9:00pm on March 9, as Dilip was closing his shop in Savar.
The incident took place in front of his wife.
He added that eight to nine men had participated in the murder and robbery and operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused.
The SP further added that the robbers had rented a car and created panic in the area by blasting cocktail bombs before the robbery.
The arrestees are said to be professional robbers with cases against them in different districts, he said.
