Police have recovered the bodies of a man and wife from two separate locations in Narsingdi.
The wife was found dead at home late last night, while the husband’s body was found hanging from a building ledge this afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Raju Mia, 42, and Mansura Begum, 38, residents of Balusair village in Sadar upazila. The couple were parents to three children.
According to police and family members, around 8:30pm yesterday, the couple’s children and relatives broke into their locked bedroom and found Mansura lying lifeless on the bed with a scarf wrapped around her neck.
Police recovered and sent the body to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Following the incident, Raju Mia went missing. Today, locals in the Baburhat area spotted a man hanging by a rope from the ledge of a three-storey building and alerted police. Fire service personnel recovered the body around noon, and it was later identified as Raju Mia by his relatives.
Sujon Chandra Sarkar, additional superintendent of police (crimes and operations), confirmed the incident.
“The bodies have been sent for autopsy, and legal procedures are underway,” he added.
