A man has been killed in Sunakothi of Lalitpur.
District Police Complex Lalitpur SP Sudhirraj Shahi informed that Ramchandra Rai, who was living in a dera of a house at 27 Sunakothi, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, was killed around 7:30 pm on Monday night.
According to the police, 41-year-old Rajendra Rai, who was camping together, has been arrested on the charge of killing Ramchandra, aged 35-40.
SP Shahi said that Ramchandra was killed using a sharp weapon.
‘They are both acquaintances. They drank alcohol together. It seems that sharp weapons are used when there is a dispute,’ he said.
He said that Ramchandra’s upper body was injured by the weapon. It is not clear what kind of dispute was between them.
The police have secured the spot and removed the body. The body has been taken to Patan Hospital for post-mortem. The police are investigating the incident further.
According to Krishnahari Maharjan, Ward President of Lalitpur Ward No. 27, Ramchandra and Rajendra used to live in a tower in a hill far away from the settlement.
‘They lived in a terrace with three rooms. The deceased is living in one room and the person who killed them is living in the other room,’ Ward President Maharjan told Setopati, ‘They are both wage labourers. Today (Monday) sitting together was seen drinking a lot of alcohol.’
After the incident, Rajendra himself had walked to the nearest police station carrying weapons. Ward president Maharjan said that after he told the police that he had killed him, the police did not find him at first. But after seeing a weapon with him, the police reached the spot after taking away the weapon.
‘I reached the spot,’ said Ward President Maharjan, ‘the arrested person was seen drinking a lot of alcohol. Why did he say because of swearing rather than murder? It seems that the body of the deceased was hit in a very strange way.’
