Bengaluru: Dalit girl student abused on caste in Dental College, students harassed for 6 months, no action

Karnataka. A student of a dental college in Bangalore has alleged caste harassment. This case pertains to KVG Dental College located in Dakshina Kannada district, where a student of the final year of post-graduation has been misbehaving and assaulting her for about 6 months on account of her caste by some students, the student complained to the principal of the college and Had done with the head of the department, but no action was taken on it. According to a CNN News18 report, ’27-year-old student Pallavi lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday. She told that five students of KVG Dental College ragged and assaulted her. Pallavi alleged that she was harassed for several months by the five students because she belonged to the Scheduled Caste.
In her complaint, Pallavi said, ‘Dr Vishak attacked me at 10 pm on 21 December, when I, my brother and our friend were returning to the hostel at night, the accused abused and assaulted in the name of caste. He was torturing me since 6 months. No action was taken on this in the college, then I told at home. He was torturing me mentally. I am in college since June through peripheral posting, he was torturing me for not doing any case.
Sulia police in Dakshina Kannada said, ‘Pallavi, a final year student of KVG Dental College in Sulia, said she was allegedly harassed and ragged by five students – Vishak, Aishwarya R, Alpha Marie Mathya, Daniel Sebastian and Rishikesh. Based on Dr Pallavi’s complaint, the police have registered a case against 5 people under the SC/ST Act and sections 324 and 323 of the IPC.
