Uttar Pradesh: Deadly attack on Dalit family in land dispute, police accused of negligence

Lucknow. A bloody clash broke out in a village of Dhanpatganj in Sultanpur, UP over a land dispute. In this case, the police have registered a case against five people and started investigation. The victim’s family alleges that the police did not get all the injured people medically examined, nor did the CT scan of the seriously injured people get them done. Due to lack of proper action by the police, the accused family is continuously threatening to kill the victim’s family. The victim’s family is in danger of their lives. However, the police is talking about fair investigation and action in the whole matter.

Vijay Kanaujia, a resident of Babu ka Purva Mundwa village in Dhanpatganj area of Sultanpur in UP, belongs to the Scheduled Castes. Vijay said, “On the morning of January 5, 2023, around 10:30, many unknown people including Subhash Dubey, Sandeep Mishra, Pradeep Mishra, Inderjit attacked with sharp weapons and sticks for the occupation of the land of the population. In this attack, my Sister Kamlesh Kumari, Suman Devi, Gayatri Devi, Priyanka Rajkumar and other members of the house were seriously injured.
Case filed against five people
According to the information, in this incident there was a fierce struggle between the two sides over the land dispute. Lathi-poles were used fiercely on both sides. Five people were seriously injured in the fight. Police has started investigation by registering a case under various sections including SC/ST. In the incident, the victims have filed a case against five nominated and many unknowns while giving Tahrir.
The incident happened due to the negligence of the revenue department.
The aggrieved party alleges that the incident of assault took place due to the failures of the Revenue Department. “We had been asking for disposal of encroachment on the land by giving an application for a long time. Due to the insensitivity of the local SDM, Kanungo and Lekhpal, this dispute turned into a canker sore and turned into a lathi scandal.”

Regarding this matter, Station Officer Ram Pandey said, “The injured have been admitted to the hospital for health check-up and treatment. A case under the SC/ST Act has been registered. Based on the evidence, the action is being ensured.” Soon the accused will be arrested.”
