Haryana: Dalit youth kidnapped, thrashed for not greeting ‘Ram Ram’

Based on the complaint of a Dalit youth, a case was filed against Deepak and his friends at the IMT police station in Rohtak for assault, attempt to murder and kidnapping.

Rohtak: A Dalit youth was kidnapped and brutally beaten by a man for not greeting him with “Ram Ram” in Haryana’s Rohtak district. A case has been filed in the matter and the Haryana police has initiated the probe.
According to a report of TV9 Bharatvarsh, the victim hails from Kharavad village in Rohtak district.
Victim files police complaint
“I was standing on the street in Kharavad village when Deepak and his friends approached me on August 18 and asked me to sit in his car. After sitting in the car, Deepak asked me why I don’t greet him ‘Ram Ram’ and started misbehaving with me. He and his friends abused me, thrashed me and also made my objectionable video. He used casteist slurs against me,” the victim said in his complaint.
He further informed the police officers that Deepak is a son of Kharavad’s Sarpanch Saroj Bala.
Police takes immediate action
Based on the complaint of a Dalit youth, a case was filed against Deepak and his friends at the IMT police station in Rohtak for assault, attempt to murder and kidnapping.
All the accused have been identified as Deepak, Monu, Nitin and Vivek and they have been booked under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and SC/ST Act.
However, the accused were yet to be arrested.
“The probe into this entire matter is currently underway. we have assured the victim that all the accused will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken against them,” DSP Rakesh Malik said.
