Both of them entered our house and as soon as they arrived, they attacked my 15 year old sister-in-law like animals. Took me to another room and started raping me in front of my eyes. I kept watching because he had said – If you don’t keep quiet, we will kill your daughter.
This is the story of a tribal woman whose sister-in-law was violated by two bullies of the village on the night of 24th August. After killing him, the body was thrown under a tree behind the house. After the incident, the victim’s family has left the house.
The bullies are threatening the entire family of the victimized tribal that they should change their statement otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the village. When Dainik Bhaskar reached the spot and investigated the matter, the tribals told that the Thakur people here behave arbitrarily with the tribals. The minor was beaten by pressing his mouth and continued to behave arbitrarily.
The incident took place on the night of 24th August in Chhirounhi village of Jamodi police station area of Sidhi. There was no man at home. The minor girl was sleeping in the same room with her sister-in-law and niece. At 12 o’clock in the night, accused Dharmendra Singh and his younger brother Dheeraj Singh alias Bhole entered inside by pushing the gate. As soon as they arrived, both of them started forcing themselves on the girl. The girl’s sister-in-law was present there with her two-year-old little girl. When she intervened to save her sister-in-law’s honour, Dheeraj pushed her away. Said- If you want your daughter’s life then keep sitting quietly.
After this Dharmendra pressed the mouth of the minor girl and took her to another room. Both of them scratched the minor girl like an animal for a long time. When she was protesting, both of them were beating her. When he stopped protesting, the accused continued to abuse him. She was half dead due to the beating and pain. Then the accused picked him up and took him with them.
The girl’s sister-in-law tells- All this happened in front of me. I was very scared, so I did not come out of the house. When morning came, I came out and inquired about my sister-in-law. When he was searched, it was found that his dead body was lying under a Mahua tree. Those brutes had even scratched out his eyes. His clothes were in disarray. There were marks of beatings and bites at various places on the body.
Someone informed the police. Police came. After taking the statement of the woman, a case of murder was registered against both the accused under section 302 of IPC. After the autopsy report came, sections of POCSO and SC-ST Act were also added.

The accused liked the victim and wanted only a relationship, not marriage.
Police investigation and statements of the victim’s family have revealed that both the accused wanted to have a relationship with the minor. The girl liked another boy from her own community in the village. On the day of the incident, the girl had posted a post on social media, in which she was wearing mangalsutra with vermilion.
45 year old Dharmendra was unhappy with the girl’s liking for someone from her own caste. Before this, he had expressed his desire to the girl many times. He went crazy after seeing vermilion on the girl’s forehead in the photo posted on social media. After this, he along with his brother carried out this incident of gangrape and murder.

The family suffering from fear had to leave the house
The house of the victim’s family has been locked since the incident. Everyone has left the house. They fear that if they return, they too will be killed. The girl’s mother has gone to her maternal home with her husband. Sister-in-law is also in her parents’ house. He says that the family of the accused is pressurizing him to withdraw his statement. The victim’s father had left the house fifteen days ago due to fear of death threats from the Thakur family.
The girl’s father says- The daughter was living at home with her sister-in-law. We also wanted to take our daughter with us, but the Thakurs did not allow us to come. We were threatened that if we took our daughter with us, we would pick her up from wherever she went. We knew that he was powerful enough to do this, so we did not bring our daughter along.
Thakur’s sons wanted to forcibly have sex with my daughter. For this he often used to put pressure on us also. We were threatened that if she did not come with us, the entire family would be killed. They do not understand the respect of our daughters-in-law. These are powerful people. We do whatever we want with the poor. We are definitely poor, but we did not want to give our daughter to them, hence we always protested.
Family’s allegation – they were influential so they did not file complaint
The victim’s mother says – We have not filed a complaint with the police till date because nothing happens to them. These are influential people. Many times the Thakurs threatened us that they would slaughter the entire family like chickens.
We had to live in the village, so we tolerated their atrocities. Now we have left that village, we will not change the statement. If we struggled to get justice for our daughter while staying in the village, the Thakur people would kill us like our daughter. We demand from the government that bulldozers should be used on his house also. The accused should be given death sentence.

Accused’s father said, ‘Mare’s family was implicated in a conspiracy’
After meeting the victim’s family, we reached Chhihaunri village. We met Bhole Singh’s father Dinesh Singh at the house of the accused. He said- The allegations of the police and the victim’s family are 100 percent false. Neither did we ever harass that family nor can my son or nephew commit such a despicable act. My son is an engineer by profession. His wife is also a nursing officer. Our family has been implicated in a conspiracy. Earlier too, the girl’s boyfriend had been threatening to trap us.
When the woman gave her statement to the police at the spot, I myself was present at the spot. He told that the girl was last seen on the road with her boyfriend at 9 o’clock in the night and she had said that she would come home after some time. Then she did not return and in the morning her dead body was found behind the house. After this, it is not known why and under whose pressure he changed his statement. The lover, whose name is being taken initially, has been released by the police. Late at night the police came to our place and took my son and nephew for questioning. Then after that both of them were found guilty in their investigation and arrested.

The family of the accused is continuously raising questions on the police investigation. Accusing SP Ravindra Verma, Bhole’s elder brother Suraj Singh says – We are being implicated only because we are Thakurs. The SP himself should come forward and answer as to whose pressure the complainant changed his statement?
Everywhere people are saying that JCB should be driven to our house and we should be hanged? Is there no court in this country? Even the guilt has not been proved in the court. That minor was like our child. We hope that we will get justice from the court. The victim family has been working here since the time of their ancestors. After the incident, my son also did not leave the house and go anywhere. If he had committed such an incident, why would my family have been at the forefront in helping the victim?
