BJP leaders issue warnings against Non-Hindus at Garba events in Hyderabad

October 14, 2023

By Muslim Mirror Staff

In a development that has sparked controversy and raised concerns about communal tensions, BJP MLA Raja Singh from the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, along with Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Hyderabad President Laddu Yadav, has issued stern warnings to non-Hindus attempting to participate in Garba events during the ongoing Navaratri festival.

Raja Singh, a suspended BJP leader, took to social media to express his views on the matter, asserting that “love jihad” cases are on the rise and claiming that non-Hindus must be restricted from attending Garba events. He also demanded that all supporting staff, including bouncers and videographers, should be Hindu. To enforce this, he called for the checking of Aadhaar cards at the entrance of these events and warned that any oversight by organizers would lead to consequences.

In a separate video message, Laddu Yadav echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need to prohibit non-Hindus from participating in the traditional Dandiya dance celebrations during Navaratri. Yadav argued that “love jihad” cases come to light every year during this time and urged event organizers to scrutinize attendees’ Aadhaar cards. He threatened to file cases against Garba event organizers who allowed non-Hindus to participate, further stating that any non-Hindu men found inside these events would be forcibly removed.

These statements come as Navaratri, the nine-night Hindu festival honoring the goddess Durga, is being celebrated in Hyderabad. During this festive period, many Garba events are scheduled to take place in the city, attracting Hindus from all backgrounds. While Garba is a traditional Gujarati dance associated with the Navaratri festival, it has gained popularity in Hyderabad as well.
