Dankaur . Last Wednesday night, in Banjarpur village of Kotwali area of Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, after the death of eight-year-old child Siddharth due to illness, the family members and other villagers reached the cremation ground to perform the last rites of the body. The police arrived after the uproar and calmed the people down. After this the last rites were performed in the presence of the police. In this case, the aggrieved party has reached the police station and filed a complaint against five accused including the two named. Even two months ago, after the death of a person from the snake charmer community in village Reelkha, the last rites were not allowed to take place. People had protested against this.
Siddharth, 8 year old son of Dalit Rohit, resident of village Banjarpur, was ill for the last few days. Even after much treatment, he did not recover and he died late on Wednesday evening. Family members and other villagers reached the cremation ground to perform the last rites. It is alleged that the influential people of the village threw the cremation material into the canal, claiming the cremation ground as their own. After this the people of Dalit community became angry. They created a ruckus and blocked the canal near the village.

Villagers say that at present they have been performing the last rites at the mixed cremation ground of the village, but some people oppose it.
