Suspicious death of Dalit man in police custody in Lakhimpur Kheri, police refuted serious allegations of family members

Dalit man death in police custody: The case of death of a Dalit in the police station in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh heated up. According to the police, the man died due to deteriorating health, while the family members say that the police took him to the police station for questioning, where the Dalit man was brutally beaten and given electric shocks, after which he died. Angered by the death in police custody, people staged a protest by placing the dead body at Kasta intersection on Lakhimpur-Magalganj road at around 8 am on Saturday morning and demanded action against the culprits. According to the information, the road remained blocked for 6 hours, after which the family members ended the protest on the assurance of the police. And the jam was opened.

Inquiry in murder case:

According to media reports, on April 3, five-year-old girl Anshu, who was missing in Pakaria Jalalpur village, was strangulated to death. His body was found 100 meters from his home 26 hours after he went missing. In this case, the police had detained Asaram, a Dalit man from the village, for questioning. Where he died. After this incident there was panic in the police department. According to the police station incharge, Asaram was brought to the police station at 4 pm on Friday evening for the murder of the girl. Asaram had an upset stomach, he was taken to CHC. From where the doctors referred him to the district hospital. He died at around 10 pm.

Serious allegations against police:

According to the report of Amar Ujala, Asaram’s family alleged that the police beat Asaram brutally in the Mitauli police station premises. He was also electrocuted, due to which he died. When the death occurred, we were informed. The police had handed over the body to the family members in the night itself, saying that he died due to illness. Tension spread in the village in the morning. Hundreds of villagers came out on the streets with their family members. Protested by keeping the dead body on the road. Due to this protest there was a jam on the road. According to the information, police forces reached the police station as soon as the information was received. Police officers also became active.

Huge anger among family members:

After the entire incident, there was huge anger among the villagers against the police. The family protested by keeping the dead body on the road. Most women took part in this protest. The relatives of the deceased remained adamant in demanding action from the police against the criminals. The family members kept the body on the road and showed the blue marks on his back to everyone and remained firm on their stand that Asaram died due to police beating. The police tried to stop people from going to Kasta intersection. This made people more angry.

According to the information, many officers including ASP, CO and administrative officers reached the spot. Additional SP Naipal Singh, who arrived to clear the massive traffic jam at Kasta intersection, took charge wearing a helmet. When the police stopped the angry people, they became more angry. There was scuffle and scuffle with the police. Seeing the tension, PAC was also called. A large number of people got stuck due to intersection jam. The wife of deceased Asaram was fainting crying. The officers assured action against the culprits. After this the angry people calmed down. Kasta moved away from the intersection at around 12.45 pm.
