Bhopal. An incident of tying an elderly Dalit couple to a pole and beating them has come to light in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. In Kilora village of Mungaoli police station area of the district, the accused first beat up the elderly Dalit couple and then humiliated them publicly.

When the elderly couple reached the village after about 3 months, they were beaten up by a rowdy family with their hands tied and then a procession was taken out in the village. The rowdies were not satisfied even with this and they put a garland of shoes around the neck of the elderly couple and tied them to a pole. After getting the information, the police reached the spot and rescued the captive couple.

According to the information, the victims are 60-year-old Beti Bai and her 65-year-old husband Karan Singh alias Kanna Ahirwar, who were out of town for the last three months due to fear of the upper caste goons of the village. They applied to the police several times and demanded protection. The elderly couple reached the village on Friday evening after wandering. On getting the news of this, the accused Dalits reached the house of the elderly couple and allegedly started beating them while using abusive caste-based language. After this, their hands were tied and a garland of slippers was put around their neck and they were paraded around the village and tied to a pole and beaten again.

The couple who were beaten up have several internal injuries on their bodies. Kanna Ahirwar has a fracture in her leg. The woman also has injury marks on her body. A CT scan has also been done to check the internal injuries. Currently, the victims are admitted in the district hospital where they are being treated.

Here, on the complaint of Beti Bai, the police registered a case against 10 people including 2 women. The police said that the accused will be arrested soon. Talking to The Muknayak , Mungawali police station in-charge Gabbar Singh Gurjar said that the son of the elderly couple who were beaten up by the accused had molested a woman of the accused family about 3 months ago. Due to this, the elderly couple was not coming to the village due to fear, but as soon as the accused got information about their arrival, they beat up the elderly couple. We have registered a case of assault and atrocity against Raja Yadav of the village and 10 people of his family. At present, the accused are absconding, who are being searched.
