School guard arrested on sexual abuse charge
Police say they are further investigating.

A security guard at a school in Birtamod, Jhapa, has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl.
According to the Area Police Office in Birtamod, Tej Bahadur Pandey, a security guard at Devi Secondary School, has been arrested on the charge of sexually abusing a minor. Pandey, a former police officer and resident of Birtamod-4, was apprehended last Wednesday.
The family of a nine-year-old girl from Birtamod-6 filed a complaint with the police alleging sexual violence. Based on the complaint, the police arrested Pandey. His custody has been extended by the court while the investigation continues, according to Police Inspector Ramesh Rai from the Area Police Office, Birtamod.
The school’s principal, Ambika Shrestha, claimed that after reviewing the CCTV footage from the school premises, no evidence of abuse was found involving the minor.
