Uttar Pradesh: 22 people booked for molesting a Dalit girl sitting with her mother at a shop
Police have registered a case against 22 people for allegedly committing obscenity and molesting a teenage girl who was sitting at a shop with her mother in a village in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh. In a village in Ekouna area of Deoria district, after a teenage girl sitting at a shop was molested and a fight broke out in protest, the police registered a case of molestation and Dalit harassment against 22 people including the accused Parvez and Subhan Ali of Ishwarpura village.
The incident happened on the evening of 16th September. A woman from a village on the Pachladi to Palia dam has opened a grocery shop. She told the police in her complaint that her teenage daughter was sitting at the shop on the evening of 16th September. During this time two youths arrived in a four wheeler and on the pretext of buying goods started doing obscene acts with her daughter. When the daughter screamed, the parents gathered and ran to beat the two youths. After some time, the two accused youths arrived with 20 people and started beating them. They beat the mother and father of the teenager using casteist slurs.
According to media reports , police registered a case of molestation and Dalit harassment against 22 people.
