Bhadohi News: A case has been registered against 7 youths for allegedly beating a Dalit for drinking water from a hand pump near a temple in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh. An official gave this information on Saturday. The official said that the police registered this case on the order of the court. Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan said that the incident took place on July 26 at 5 pm in Gandhi Nagar area of ????the city Kotwali area. He said that the victim was identified as Abhishek Gautam (24).

Dalit beaten for drinking water from a hand pump
According to the information received, the official said that Kabaddi player Abhishek had sat down to rest after drinking water from a hand pump installed at a temple built on the river bank, when the accused started beating him saying that he made him untouchable by drinking water from the hand pump. He said that when the accused brutally beat Abhishek, some people reached there and saved him. Katyayan said that the accused also allegedly threatened to throw acid on the victim if she complained about the incident.
Case registered against 7 youths
It is being told that the victim Abhishek Gautam filed a petition in the court of Special Judge (Scheduled Caste-Tribe Court) Asad Ahmed Hashmi on August 3 to register a case in this case. Hearing the petition, on the order given by the court on October 17, a case was registered in the city police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused were identified as Sanjay Yadav, Ajay Yadav, Brijesh Yadav, Arjun Yadav, Hariom Yadav, Asha Yadav and Bunty Yadav. The officer said that all the accused are currently absconding.
