UP: Dead body of a Dalit woman found in a sack, politics heated up due to allegations by the family
The woman’s family has claimed that she was raped before being killed. They also alleged a political motive behind the incident in the area, where polling was held on Wednesday.

Uttar Pradesh: The naked body of a Dalit woman was found stuffed in a sack near the Kanjra river bridge in Karhal in Mainpuri district. The woman’s family has accused a man named Prashant Yadav of the murder and said there was a political motive behind the crime. Prashant and another man have been arrested, police said.
The victim’s family has also alleged that the woman was raped before being killed. The family claimed that the woman had expressed her wish to vote for the BJP in the Karhal by-election, which angered Prashant.
Prashant had allegedly threatened the woman with dire consequences if she did not vote for the Samajwadi Party.
The victim’s father alleged that three days ago Prashant Yadav came to their house and asked her which party she would vote for. She replied that she would vote for the BJP’s election symbol lotus as her family had got a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. After this, Yadav threatened her and asked her to vote for the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol cycle.
According to the family, threats were made on November 19. Eyewitnesses said two suspects abducted the woman on a bike on November 19. Her body was found in a sack on Wednesday.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and started investigation, after which the woman’s body was sent for post-mortem.
Vinod Kumar, a senior police officer in the case, said, “The 23-year-old woman went missing from Karhal last night. Her body was found this morning. Her father has filed a case against two people, one is Prashant Yadav and the other is Mohan Katheria. Both have been arrested.”

The BJP has launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party over the woman’s death. State BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said in a post on Twitter, “Prashant Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and his associates brutally murdered a Dalit daughter in Karhal of Mainpuri district just because she refused to vote for the ‘cycle’.”
Samajwadi Party candidate from Karhal, Tej Pratap Yadav, said the case should be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should be given severe punishment. “This is a conspiracy by the BJP to defame the Samajwadi Party, which often indulges in such activities. This has nothing to do with the SP,” party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary told PTI news agency.
Let us tell you that, voting was held on Wednesday in Karhal seat situated in Mainpuri district. This seat was vacant due to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
Considered a Samajwadi Party bastion since 1993, the seat has seen the party field Akhilesh Yadav’s nephew Tej Pratap Yadav.
Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Tej Pratap Yadav’s uncle Anuj Yadav from this seat. This seat has become a battle of prestige for both the parties.
The number of Yadavs in this constituency is around 1.4 lakh, while the number of Dalits and Muslims is said to be around 40,000 and 15,000 respectively.
