Teenage girl’s hanging body found weeks after rape complaint in Faridpur

Police have recovered the hanging body of a 13-year-old girl who had allegedly been raped in Faridpur’s Saltha upazila.
The girl was found dead around 10:00am today at her home, said Md Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Saltha Police Station.
Her mother lives abroad, while her father and brother travel to other areas for work.
According to the case statement, on March 14, 22-year-old Sohel Rana from Protapur village under Faridpur Sadar upazila allegedly entered the family’s house when the victim was alone and raped her.
The next day, the victim’s father filed the case with Saltha Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
A team of Rab-10 arrested Sohel from Patuakhali on April 20. He is currently in jail, the OC said, adding that the body has been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Legal action will be taken based on the report, he added.
