Dalit girl gang-raped in Lucknow, four accused held

A 16-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped allegedly by five persons in the Banthara area of Lucknow. Four of the accused have been arrested, the police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday (October 11), when the victim left home to visit her older sister, and was travelling on a motorcycle with an acquaintance. “The girl and her acquaintance stopped to talk at a mango orchard near a petrol pump under the Banthara police station limits, when five men approached them. They beat up her acquaintance, who fled the scene. The men then raped the girl,” the police said.
