Idol vandalised at Patuakhali temple; case filed
Locals suspect outsiders may have targeted the temple to trigger unrest in the area

An idol has been vandalised at a Hindu temple in Patuakhali’s Bauphal upazila, police said.
The incident happened at Sri Sri Shitola-Kalimata Temple at Bhubon Sahar Kachari area under Bauphal Sadar union last night around d 9:30 pm.
Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Siddikur Rahman said upon receiving information, they have visited the scene.
Visiting the temple today, an idol was found vandalised at a room of the temple.
President of the temple’s committee, Anil Chandra Ganapati, said he reported the matter to police last night.
Locals believe that some non-local miscreants might have vandalised the idol in an attempt to create an unstable situation in the area.
“The temple committee’s president has filed a case against unnamed individuals in connection with the incident. An investigation is being conducted, and necessary legal action is being taken,” added the OC.
