Man beaten by locals in Kushtia over alleged rape of 10-year-old
Police rescued the accused and admitted him to hospital; the child is undergoing treatment and medical tests

A 32-year-old man was beaten up by locals in Kushtia town today over accusations of raping a 10-year-old child.
The incident occurred around 11:00 am today at Char Milpara in Ward-10 of Kushtia municipality.
The accused, Ashadul, allegedly lured the child to a local school, which was closed at that time, with food. Hearing the child’s screams, locals rushed to the spot, caught Ashadul, and beat him up.
Police later rescued him and admitted him to the 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital.
Dr Md Iqbal Hossain, resident medical officer of the hospital, said the child is being treated at the emergency department of the hospital. “Her physical condition is being monitored, and necessary medical tests are underway,” he said.
Kabir Hossain Matubbor, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station, said a case is being filed in connection with the incident.
