Robinhood Army of young Muslims help in last rites of Hindu Covid victim in Assam
A group of young Muslims that goes by the name – Robinhood Army, helped in performing the last rites of a Hindu Covid victim in Assam’s Karimganj, when locals stopped the victim’s family.
When family members of 58-year-old Mrinal Kanti Dey were stopped by the locals from performing his last rites, the Robinhood Army came to the family’s rescue in Assam’s Karimganj.
Dey died of Covid and the locals at the cremation ground in the Sarisha area stopped the family members and health officials from performing his last rites. They were afraid that the cremation would spread the virus in the area.
This is when the Robinhood Army came to the rescue of the family. The young group of Muslims helped the family members and the health officials perform the last rites of Mrinal Kanti Dey with adherence to Covid-19 protocol on Tuesday morning in the backside of the Junitila police reserve field.
The Muslim youths also provided the items which are used to perform the last rites as per Hindu rituals.
Nizamuddin, one member of the group said, “Everybody should come forward and help each other in this situation. We don’t think who is Hindu and who is Muslim. We have come forward to help as human beings. We carried the body to this place and did all the arrangements for his last rites.”
