Haryana: Dalit girl preparing for 12th exam commits suicide after gangrape, case filed against three

Coming from the Scheduled Caste community, the teenager was preparing for the 12th class board exam.

Charkhi Dadri (Haryana): A 17-year-old Dalit girl committed suicide after being gang-raped in a village of Charkhi Dadri in Haryana. She was raped by three youths. A case has been registered against all three. Coming from the Scheduled Caste community, the teenager was preparing for the 12th class board exam. She was alone at her house on Friday when the accused entered her house, abducted her and raped her by taking her to a nearby area. A few hours later, the girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her house.

Badhra station in-charge Chander Shekhar said, “Three accused have been named in the FIR. The main accused is 21 years of age and has been arrested and is in police remand.” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSAP) Badhra Desh Raj told that the teenager and the three accused are residents of the same village. The main accused lives near his house.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, he said. The DSP said that the body was sent for post-mortem, which was done by a team of three doctors.
