Odisha/Bhubaneswar. In the Godbhaga area of Bargarh district, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, a bike rally of Ambedkarite youth was attacked by Bajrang Dal activists at around 3 pm on Thursday, in a video of this incident, miscreants along with Ambedkarite youth were assaulted by people wearing saffron clothes. can be clearly seen doing so.
What was the whole matter?
On the day of Ambedkar Jayanti from Attabira to Godbhaga on Thursday, 14th April, a bike rally was organized by the people who believe in the ideas of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Ambedkarwadi Yuva Sangh.
Sanjay Kumar, who was involved in the rally, told about the incident that, “The police had said a day before the rally that Ambedkar Jayanti rally would be held first, followed by Bajrang Dal rally, and the police would cooperate. But when the rally reached Godbhaga from Attabira, the Bajrang Dal people came there, broke the vehicle in which the flags were installed (about 10 motorcycles), tore the banners and urinated on it, and attacked with knives and broken glass bottles, in which four people were injured. Huh. All this happened in the presence of the police.”
He further states that, the police were at the spot but did not take any action.
Police remained mute spectators!
Bablu Besra, the organizer of the rally, told that, a day before the rally, the posters (pictures of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar) were torn by the people of Bajrang Dal, so there was a possibility of an incident, and the police had been informed, the police did not cooperate. After the violence, both the groups [people from both sides] were called to the police station and a conversation took place.
He further explains that, the police have promised that they will take action against the culprits of the case and will compensate for the damage done. But no one has been arrested so far, nor has any compensation been received. Rather, in Godbhaga, the Bajrang Dal members have entered the house of an Ambedkarite worker and beat him up.
He told that when Bargarh DY SP (Additional Superintendent of Police) was asked on the matter, he disconnected the phone and did not give any answer. There is a lot of anger among the Ambedkarites of Bargarh district and Odisha over this development, and everyone is demanding that the police take immediate cognizance of the matter, and take strict action against the Bajrang Dal people and give proper compensation to the victim.
