Madhya Pradesh: Adivasi minor student raped, case registered after photo goes viral

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh is at the top in cases of atrocities on tribals and children. According to the data of NCRB, maximum number of criminal incidents are happening with tribals and children in MP. Now the latest case has come to the fore in the tribal block Khalwa of Khandwa district of the state, with a minor tribal student of class 11th. The accused took the girl student to a friend’s house and raped her and the accused also threatened to kill the girl student if she told anyone about the incident.
It is alleged that, the accused also took photographs with the student from the mobile, when the student objected to this, he was threatened to kill her and make the photo viral if she told anyone. The accused shared the pictures of the girl to his friends. When that photo reached the student’s father, he questioned the daughter. The daughter told the whole incident. After this they reached the police station and registered the case. The police have arrested the accused and his friend.
The victim girl student told in the statements given to the police that, on March 27, she was coming from her friend’s house, when on the way Wasim’s son Ashiq called me. He took me to a friend’s house in Tiwari Colony. I knew her, that’s why she left. First he took a photo with me. After this took him to the inner room and said “I like you. I want to marry you.” I said “I am from tribal community. After that he raped me.”
The student told that the accused later threatened to kill her and make the photo viral if she told anyone about the incident. I didn’t tell anyone, even after that he made the photo viral. When someone showed this photo to my father, he questioned me. I mustered up the courage to tell the whole incident. After this we reached the police station.

In this case, Harsud SDOP Ravindra Vaskale said that a complaint of rape was made with a minor girl student in Khalwa police station. A case has been registered against both the rape accused Wasim and his friend under rape and POCSO Act.
According to the data of NCRB 2021, the state is at number 1 in the case of child crime and atrocities on tribals. In the year 2020, the cases of harassment of tribals have increased by 20% in the state. In the case of women atrocities, Madhya Pradesh is at number 3 in the country. The 2020 report of the National Crime Records Bureau says that 2,401 cases were registered in the state under the Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Prevention Act.
Case 1- In February 2023, a tribal woman was raped by three people in turn in a moving car in Gwalior district. After that all the three accused had absconded. The victim woman was looking for work and the accused had taken her from Gwalior on the pretext of getting her work. But raped her on Gwalior-Jhansi National Highway NH 26. On the complaint of the victim, the police had registered a case of rape against the three accused in Bilaua police station.
Case 2- In July 2022, in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, the accused had set the woman on fire by pouring diesel. While setting the fire, the accused also made a video of the woman, which also went viral. The woman had suffered about 80 per cent burns in the incident. The case was of Dhanoria village of Bamori in Guna district. Rampyari Bai was found burnt by her husband Arjun Sahariya in the field. The tribal woman was set ablaze by the accused over a land dispute.
Case 3- The case of rape of a tribal woman came to light in January 2023 itself in Mandideep of Raisen district. Here too, a tribal woman had lodged a complaint with the police that she had come to Mandideep from the village to work as a laborer and lives in a rented house in Ramnagar here and works as a laborer in the canal factory. At around 11:12 pm, when she was sleeping in her room, Vicky Rajput, who was living in the neighboring room, raped her forcefully. And he has left the room and run away. On the complaint of the complainant woman, the police had registered a case under section 376 against the accused Vicky Rajput.
Case 4- In May 2019, three accused of Amdara police station area of Satna district entered the house of a tribal woman from the village itself. Where the accused first raped the woman by one of the accused. At the same time, two other accomplices took the girl inside the closed room. Those accused also tried to rape her but they could not succeed. Seeing the opposition of the girl, the three accused fled from the house. In the morning, when other members of the house came to know about the matter, a complaint was lodged with the police.
