Main accused of gangrape of Dalit woman in Bijnor, policeman arrested, other accused still absconding

Under the influence of Shubham’s family, the accused started torturing her mentally and physically and demanded huge dowry. When she refused to bring dowry from her maternal home, Shubham, along with his friends Mukul and Shehzad, took turns to gang-rape her.

Gang rape of Dalit woman:
Actually, this whole matter is from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, where a Dalit woman was gang-raped by a constable and his friends. Although the Nahtaur police station of Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh has arrested the constable, the other accused are still absconding.
Accused constable working in Excise Department:
According to the information, the accused constable works in the Excise Department. The victim woman told in her statement that the accused constable along with his associates raped her one by one. The victim told in her statement that the name of the accused constable is Shubham and she had met the accused Shubham in the year 2015. Since then the accused has been having physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage. During this time, when she became pregnant, she took her to a private hospital in Bijnor and got her aborted on 22 May 2023.
What did the victim say?
The victim said that since both of them belonged to different castes, she married him in an Arya Samaj temple on 26 May 2023 due to fear of the society, but Shubham’s family was not happy with this marriage. They later started harassing her for dowry. After this, Shubham took him with himself to Bulandshahr, where he was working as a constable in the Excise Department. Both of them took a room in a hotel and started living together as husband and wife.
Mentally and physically abused:
The victim alleged that the accused Shubham, under the influence of the family members, started torturing her mentally and physically and demanded huge dowry. When she refused to bring dowry from her maternal home, Shubham, along with his friends Mukul and Shehzad, took turns to gang-rape her.
Statement of Nahtaur police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar Solanki:
Nahtaur police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar Solanki said that on March 21, on the complaint of the victim, a case was registered against the accused Shubham, Manoj, Sanjay, Roshi, Subhash, Mukul and Shehzad under relevant sections of the IPC. Police arrested the main accused Shubham on Wednesday. Police are searching for other accused. Soon everyone will be arrested.
