The incident occurred around 11 PM on April 4 at the Kazibari Mosque intersection in Gerda Union. According to Liton Biswas, the attack took place while he was returning home on a motorcycle with his elder brother, Ranjit, after attending a party near Gerda Saheb’s residence. “As no transport was available that late, I picked him up and we were on our way home when two motorcycles with 3–4 assailants opened fire and attacked us. After we fell, they began hacking us and then fled the scene,” he recounted.
Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident and stated that Ranjit Biswas sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. He was later transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical care. His brother Liton was also injured during the assault.
He added that after receiving the information, multiple police teams have started investigating the incident. Efforts are being made to find out the reason for the attack.
