UP: Minor Dalit student who went to coaching in Jaunpur was kidnapped, brutalized and video was posted on social media, two accused arrested

Lucknow: A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. A minor Dalit student and his friend who had gone for coaching in the Zafarabad police station area were kidnapped by eight to ten bike-riding youths. The accused took both of them to a secluded place and assaulted and brutalised them in a closed room.
The accused treated the minor Dalit victim inhumanly and first beat him, then forced him to spit on the ground and lick it. Not only this, a video of the entire incident was also made from the victim’s mobile phone and posted from his social media account.
During the incident, the accused used abusive caste-related language and threatened to kill the student if he complained to the police. When the student’s father came to know about his kidnapping, he immediately informed the police.
On the basis of the complaint, the police started action by registering a case under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act. The police took immediate action and recovered both the kidnapped students safely and arrested two accused—Avnish Chauhan and Jaiprakash Chauhan—and sent them to jail. Both the accused are residents of Samopur Khurd village of Zafarabad police station area.
In this case, an FIR has been filed against a total of six named accused. The police is conducting raids to arrest the other absconding accused.
DSP City Devesh Singh of Jaunpur informed that, “Immediate action was taken on the information of kidnapping of students who had gone for coaching in Zafarabad police station area. Both the children have been recovered safely. The victims have been treated and handed over to their families. Necessary legal action is underway considering the seriousness of the case. The absconding accused will also be arrested soon.”
