Azamgarh: Dalit family attacked due to old enmity, FIR lodged against five including former Pradhan

Police have started investigation after a Dalit family was attacked due to old enmity in Azamgarh district of UP. An FIR has been registered in the case and two people have been taken into custody.

Uttar Pradesh: A case of murderous attack on a Dalit family has come to light in village Dharampur Asalpur of Jahanganj police station area of Azamgarh district due to old rivalry of Pradhanship. Victim Manoj Kumar has lodged a complaint in the police station against five people including former Pradhan Manoj Pandey. Police has registered an FIR in the case and started investigation.
According to the information, Indravati Devi, mother of the victim Pramod Kumar Ram, is the current village head. The victim Pramod alleged that on May 3, at around 4 pm, he had gone to the Brahmin colony of the village in connection with the work of the village head. When he was passing through the lane between the houses of Anil Pandey and Manoj Pandey, the former head Manoj Pandey challenged him using abusive and casteist words.
After this, Manoj Pandey, Chandradutt Pandey, Chet Narayan Pandey, Sundaram Pandey and Anil Pandey together attacked Pramod and his daughter Priya. It is said in the complaint that Chandradutt Pandey hit Pramod on the head with a tangi, due to which he suffered serious injuries. Other accused attacked Pramod and his daughter with sticks and injured them.
SP City Shailendra said that a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim. Two people have been arrested. The search for the remaining accused is on.
