4 people arrested including the people’s representative who committed caste discrimination

KATHMANDU – 4 people, including Ramji Lamichhane, a ward member of Kaski, have been arrested on charges of caste discrimination by calling them Dalits during fasting. District Police Office Kaski has arrested 4 people, including Kaski ward member Ramji Lamichhane, who were accused of caste discrimination by calling them Dalits during the fast. Inspector Gyan Bahadur Khadka of District Police Office Kaski said that 4 people including Ramji Lamichhane, a ward member of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-5 Rivan, were arrested. Narayan Pariyar of Pokhara filed a complaint against four people on charges of caste discrimination. Lamichhane was absconding and was arrested by the District Police Office on Sunday. Although Lamichhane and Sita Lamichhane were arrested on Sunday, the police arrested Santosh Periyar and Sujan Lamichhane on Chait 12th. Inspector Khadka said that the Dalits were accused of touching the kitchen and that they had filed a complaint with the police for arranging separate kitchens for Dalits and non-Dalits. They have been remanded in custody by the court. Narayan has demanded to take action under the Racial and Other Social Untouchability and Discrimination (Crimes and Punishments) Act 2068 and pay compensation.
